Valentine's Day

My oldest son and I spent some quality time together on Valentine's Day while we volunteered at church. During this time together, we got to talking about how sweet his mother is and how I hoped that he would find a nice girl like her when he's older.

"Oh, I have Dad," he, my 6.5 year-old, replied. "Lacey is the sweetest girl I know and we really like each other."

Lacey is a girl in his kindergarten class. She's cute as a bug, and I think she's going to be pure trouble for my boy. Heh.

Uno

My oldest son is a whiz at playing the card game Uno. It's amazing how he lines up his Skips/Reverses and Draw Twos to give his Dad the maximum number of cards to draw. And, he loves doing it too!

I think I've taught him too well.

Sold!

I got a call today from a guy that lives right down the road. I looked up his cell phone number in The Google and found out that he sells used vehicles at the very dealership that I bought my new one from. He wanted my truck for his personal vehicle. He just sold his old one and had to have a friend drive him over.

So, he stopped by. He drove my truck. He offered me $500 less than I was asking. I looked pensive and took the cash! I'm sure he thought he out maneuvered me, and you know what? I'm okay with that.

The best thing? He brought his own forms (I had already downloaded them, though.) He knew what he was doing for real. I only knew what I've read about selling a truck and transferring the title. Also, I have to submit to the Department of Transportation a form saying that I no longer own the vehicle.

So....it's sold! Yeah!

Not sold

Apparently Craig's List isn't the end-all to be-all. I posted my truck there and it still hasn't sold. Oddly, a man called saying he was interested and would drive that night to see it, but he never showed. Too weird. He sounded really eager too.

Back to Normal

For the most part, the family's back to normal health-wise. We're trying again to attend the King Tut exhibit tomorrow. I hope we actually make it this time. It's supposed be cold and rainy. Should be a good day to be inside looking at artifacts from a dead civilization.

My oldest has three teeth loose. One of them is right up-front on top, so it'll look really cool when it's gone. I'll post pictures our family gallery when it's out. He's also complaining of growing pains. That poor kid is doing some serious growing. I can't believe how tall he's getting! And to think it's all on a (mostly) vegetarian diet. He refuses to eat meat unless we force him (although he does eat ham sometimes and hot dogs.)

My youngest is really talking now. He knows enough words to speak in complete sentences. My wife says he's learned the word 'why', so I expect an onslaught of questions about things. I'm already practicing my 'just because' routine like my Mom said to me all the time. Heh.

I've a potential buyer scheduled to come see my pick-up tomorrow morning, so let's hope things go well. If they're not interested, I guess I'll post it to Craig's List.

That's all the news from the home front for now.

I'm 5 lbs lighter!

Due to a clever scheme by a friend of my wife's, I'm now five pounds lighter! That's right. 5 pounds in under a week!

Last Saturday, my wife and two offsprings went to a kid's birthday party. The party wasn't cancelled since "they had stopped throwing up, so I thought it was okay to have the party," according to my wife's friend. Well, my youngest got sick. Then, my wife got sick. I stayed home to take care of them. I got sick. And, days of vomiting and diarrhea later, I've lost 5 pounds!

How svelte I look too. Feel free to post in the comments how I can 'reward' my wife's friend for her enforced weight loss program at my household.

Reading the manual

I was reading my new car manual when I noticed something neat. I walked into the bedroom where my wife was with my book in hand and said, "guess what I have that you don't?" She giggles, "a wee-wee?" I ignore this and continue, "No, I have SVC - Sound Volume Compensation." She snickered, "you're still talking about your wee-wee, aren't you?" She then broke down in fits of laughter until her sides hurt.

Women. Their minds are only one thing.

P.S. - SVC changes the volume on the radio depending on the noise your car makes. Sounds really neat if it works as advertised.

New Car!

Yeah! I bought a new mini-SUV/truck on Monday night. It's a 2009 Honda CR-V. It drives well and is comfortable for me to sit in. Honda's rated quite high in reliability, so maybe I'll get to keep this one 14 years like I kept my Chevy pick-up.

In other news, I've a Chevy Pick-up I'm willing to sell. Heh.

Great news!

My oldest kid was feeling much better, so packed up the van on Christmas day to leave on Friday morning. But, Friday morning, my youngest kid had a fever and didn't get much sleep. Of course, with the weather temperature swings, I'm getting sinus headaches now too. Bah. In any event, we cancelled our trip...again.

Christmas at home

My oldest kid got sick a few days ago and we had to cancel our trip plans to my Mom's. It's kind of nice in that we actually get to spend Christmas at home and light the entire Advent wreath! But, it's also sad because we can't see my family for Christmas.

As of today, he is feeling better. I'm thinking that we just may take off the day after Christmas and stay 'til Sunday. But, I don't want to push him, so it's a wait-and-see.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas. God bless!
