2008 Elections...closer than we wish
I've been thinking about the Presidential Election in 2008. Ya, I know...it's scary when I think. But, in this case, the election may be scarier.
Here's what might happen. The Democrats might have Hillary Clinton run for President. If she runs for Vice President, then they might have a chance. But if she runs for President, I don't think they're going to win unless...
For the Republicans, I'm hoping that John McCain runs. However, I fear that Bill Frist will run and get the nomination.
Why do I think that it's scary that Frist would get the nomination? Well, I see him as too radical and too far right. He's too much in the Dominionist's pockets. After Bush, and his Iraq war that we really didn't want, and his tax-breaks-until-your-kids-will-be-poor, and his increasingly burdensome deficit spending, and his extremist judicial activist appointments (oh the irony!) that he nominated twice (!), I think America will want a change. This means that the Democrats will have a better chance at winning. And, since I see Hillary Clinton as too much of a socialist radical herself, I think this is a bad thing.
Now, contrary to what some in my family may say about them, I think that all three candidates are intelligent and would probably do an ... okay job. But, being to the right of center, I'd rather have someone closer to my own values in office. And, so far, that means John McCain. I just hope he wins the nomination. I want my fiscally conservative, individual rights, semi-libertarian (without the weird drug ideas) Republican party back.
